Zeep: A brazilian-english duo
An Anglo-Brasilian partnership that turned into a love affair. A love affair that wound up becoming a band. In this way emerged Zeep: the new project of the Brasilian singer Nina Miranda and English musician Chris Frank.
This music-loving journey began 10 years ago with the band Smoke City, and the combination proved fruitful. With the hits “Underwater Love” and “Mr Gorgeous” their success elevated their songs to international releases.
Today the couple go by the name of Zeep, a band that blends an array of influences from Santana to The Mutants – passing through Led Zeppelin, Gilberto Gil, Clube da Esquina and Jimi Hendrix en route. Can you imagine it? No? Then thy out their sound, which is proving to be as eclectic a mixture as it is promising.
In tracks such as “Sem Parar”, a beautiful song sung in Portuguese, the tone is calm and intimate. In “Super”, we find casual and well arranged funk, with an excellent bass line and other experimental sounds. And when you hear “Come with me” don’t be surprised by the traditional samba sung in English.
The first video clip of the band, called Super, can be found on YouTube. The concept, direction, set and filming is all carried out by the band themselves. "It's a celebration of positive vibration, youth, life, colour, freedom," they explain.
