Big mouth strikes again
Lily Allen goes to Brasil, plays and does what she does best
Lily Allenâs controversial comments tend to compete publically with her career as a singer. Every now and again, Lily appears in the tabloids, not always due to some amazing performance, but because of some biting, nasty comment - normally directed at one of her fellow celebrities.
And the same held true in Brasil, where sheâs ending her tour of Alright, Still, her debut album, on which Lily drew more attention off than on stage. The show in SĂŁo Paulo, which took place at the Planeta Terra festival at the beginning of November, was nothing out of the ordinary. The sound was low and the singer wasnât on top form. Her scathing remarks, however, were well up to scratch.
Lily was blasĂ© with journalists but saved some of her most sarcastic jibes for Capricho, a Brasilian teen magazine. She bad mouthed and criticised a number of people during the interview, especially Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan: âthey came to my shows and invited me to some parties. I laughed and pretended it was cute, but thereâs no way I was gonna goâ. Strangely enough, Britney Speares wasnât just spared, she was also praised (âsheâs the best!â).
After singing, Lily Allen left the comfort of her well-stocked dressing room (she asked for 40 packets of cigarettes!) to see a performance by Kasabian, content to watch from the crowd. Although a journalist started chatting to her, the singer pretended she wasnât Lily Allen.
During her interview with Capricho, she also talked about her new CD, which should be released in April 2008. âIâve got nine songs ready and I bet that at least fi ve of these will be released as singles and become hitsâ. What a modest young woman she is! JD
