Jungle saw up close the end of one of the best jokes of the year

There was something very strange about that night. The Scala, in London, witnessed one of the best shows that Brasilian trio Bonde do Rolê had ever given – energetic, violent and inspired. But right after the gig, the atmosphere became very tense, and JungleDrums was there to witness the beginning of the end of the band (or a fresh start, for the optimists amongst you). MCs Marina Vello and Pedro D’Evrot had a major showdown.

The singer accosted her fellow band member shouting “son of a b****” and “I want everyone to know what an ars*h*le Pedro is”. Soon after, it was announced in the press that the rest of the tour was to be cancelled. “I wasn’t happy so I decided to quit”, Marina explained. “This had been going round in my head for some time now”.

Everyone already knew, but they confi rmed rumours with a press release: “Due to Marina leaving the band, Bonde do Rolê had to cancel the tour. Members Pedro and Gorky are trying their best to recruit another person”. JD
