Barreto's Poems - Hiding places on paper
Natan Barreto's second collection of poems, loosely translated as "Hiding places on paper" or "Hiding places behind roles", are written in Portuguese, but English translations will be read by the poet during the launch of the book at the Brasilian Embassy.
Natan Barreto was born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1966, and trained as an actor at the University of Rio de Janeiro. He lived in Paris in the early nineties, where he co-wrote screenplays in French for two short films, in which he also acted. His first collection of poetry Sob os Telhados da Noite (Under the Roofs of Night) was published in 1999, in Brazil. In 2003 he was part of a group of poets commissioned by the Barbican Art Gallery to write poems to accompany Sebastião Salgado's photographic exhibition.
